At the end of last week I had the pleasure of teaming up with Cowell Auto Group for another commercial shoot in Vancouver.
This time we were shooting a brand new 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 for Range Rover of Richmond, and we had a full day to enjoy this awesome vehicle.
During the pre-planning for the shoot we decided we wanted to showcase the truck in two contrasting locations – one being an urban city environment and the other in a forest/mountain setting.
A decision was made to head into the city core of Vancouver for the urban shots before getting the Range Rover Sport dirty up in the mountains.
We were abruptly asked to leave the location above with the Burrard Bridge in the background (it happens – some people are polite about it, others not so much. This time they weren’t so polite.) so it was time to move to our second urban location. Luckily we had captured the images we were hoping for from the first spot, so having to leave by request didn’t affect our progress. We headed over to busy Robson Street for a side shot (lead image at the top of this post), then after a quick bite to eat we were back on the road heading up highway 99 towards Cypress Mountain for the second part of the shoot.
Once we had the static shots wrapped up it was time to capture the Range Rover Sport in motion where we assembled the camera rig and very carefully mounted it to the the truck (I still get nervous doing this with other people’s vehicles, especially brand new ones like this Range Rover). The end result made the stressful moment worth it.
As we were wrapping up and about to call it a day, I wanted to grab one more image of the Range Rover Sport on the move. We found a spot not too far down the road which would work perfect for some slow shutter drag panning. This was the final shot of the day.
Prior to this shoot I already had an admiration for Range Rover. It’s shape and design has always been appealing to me. I have to say, after spending a full day getting up close and personal with this truck, I absolutely love it – especially this V8 model. The sound of that exhaust note when the accelerator is engaged along with the solid pull that pushes you back into your seat from the V8 is addicting. The model we photographed on this day has a price tag of approximately $100,000.00 cdn with full options. Might be a bit steep for many, but once you climb inside and experience the detail and quality put into the vehicle by Range Rover helps validate the sticker price.
If I ever stumble upon $100k hidden away in the back of my closet I’m confident the Range Rover Sport V8 would be at the top of my list of items to spend the money on.
Thank you for taking the time to view my photography!
